Description

Build on your foundation with a focus on expressive mark-making* and drawing. Explore how to use unconventional tools to build on your repertoire of skills to use in your art practice.

Through guided experimentation, you’ll expand your visual language and grow in drawing confidence. We’ll use materials such as ink, resist, charcoal, pencil, watercolour, collage and mono printing.

Art Fundamentals II is designed to strengthen your creative practice, build your knowledge base and skills, deepen your understanding of visual elements, and support more intentional choices in your artmaking.

This workshop is ideal as a next step after Art Fundamentals I or for those returning to art. You’ll create a body of work during the sessions—pieces to take home, develop further, or use as a springboard for ongoing exploration.

The fee includes everything:

  • All art mediums (if you have favourite art items, please bring along)

  • A variety of papers

  • Afternoon tea

*Mark-making is all about the different lines, patterns, and textures you create in your art—whether it’s lines, dots, smudges, or scribbles made with pencils, brushes, mono printing, sticks, or sponges. It’s a way to add feeling, movement, and detail, bringing personality and energy to your work. Practicing mark-making helps you get comfortable with your materials, experiment freely, and develop your own unique visual style—like building your personal handwriting on the page..

Each exercise is thoughtfully created to help you develop your knowledge, build your skills and develop your unique style. You will be encouraged to explore and express and above all, avoid perfection.
Just bring a smile and get ready to enjoy yourself!
